david cabra

gives a chilling collection

David Cabra is a new phenom in the fashion world. Only a year out of design school he has already been awarded the best Men’s Fashion collection from MODAFAD and won the prize for creativity and vanguardism from Juaquin Mercader’s contest for young designers. This columbian designer has a cool and ultra-modern esthetic that he attributes to his unlikely inspiration – Icebergs. In particular, the young columbiano saw a recent exhibit of the breathtaking David Burdeny images of Icebergs and felt inspired to create something that evoked a similar almost nomadic and chilling spirit. The result are clothes that look something like what people in the 1960’s thought we might be wearing in 2011 – metallic, angular, functional and futuristic. In a fashion world that is largely looking backward for inspiration, it seems that David Cabra has succeeded in giving us something wholly different, inspiring and fresh. I’m loving the volume of his fur epaulets and exaggerated overlapping of his double breasted coats. His knit wear is also notably avant-garde and at the same time wearable. To understand, you really just have to see – check the images below. Merchandising is still on the way – so look for Cabra at retailers near you, or if you’re a real baller shot caller, go ahead and contact for pricing details here.
