and it’s ours to tell.
It’s that time of year again, when the men of the house will actually join us in watching a fashion show!
Once again, the designers behind the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show found exciting and daring new ways to turn basic lingerie into show-stopping, crowd-dazzling costumes that make every woman wish she could wear nothing but her underwear every day. This year’s show featured 38 models, sporting 69 different looks from 6 different thematic categories:
The show opened with the Ballet collection, with tutus and feathers reminiscent of last year’s box office hit Black Swan. In thigh-high leg warmers and stilettos designed to look like pointe shoes, the models were red hot in the collection’s dominant scarlet hue, turning the runway into a modern day Degas.
Next was the Super Angel collection. Sky-high shiny boots, full-length gloves, captivatingly bright colors, pop art capes that would make Lichtenstein proud, and futuristic twists on the ever-famous wings, this collection definitely delivered a one-two punch!
The Passion collection was full of couture designs and sultry Spanish inspired pieces, with brilliant brocades, luscious lace, hand embroidery, and jewels and beading fit for a queen. Check out the designers’ version of the traditional Spanish mantilla on Doutzen Kroes.
The shimmering underwater themed Angels Aquatic collection dazzled the crowd with shades of blue and sea foam. Shell inspired wings and sea gem-adorned boudoir pieces flowed down the runway, and so did Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, as he strutted beside his model girlfriend Anne Vyalitsyna. And check out the bra Miranda Kerr wore, valued at $2.5 million!!!
The antebellum south/vintage New Orleans inspired collection entitled I Put a Spell On You was chock-full of all types of corsetry, and came complete with parasols, cameo broach-adorned pearl collar pieces, and airy bustle skirts that floated down the runway as effortlessly as the winged ladies who wore them. And check out the booties on Doutzen Kroes (right). A perfect vintage-inspired style for a fall wardrobe, if I do say so myself!
Wrapping up the show was the neon colored, glow-bracelet inspired, chunky, funky Club PINK collection, showcasing the brand’s PINK line. The retro-inspired collection showcased the brand’s more playful side with youthful designs that ended the event in an upbeat, dance party kind of atmosphere.
PS: as a new promotional strategy, the products featured on the runway hit VS stores nation wide the day after the show aired, so if you had your eye on any of the items you saw, run out and get ‘em ladies!
