alexander wang is standing out by blending in
The Wang is on fire. Having won at the cfda’s as the Swarovski accessories designer of the year, and also nominated for men’s designer of the year, the San Francisco kid Alexander Wang is proving that he is as good as all the hype and he plans to be here a long time.
Already having made a name for himself in womenswear making strikingly sophisticated and modern clothing out of organic and comfortable fabric – wang went out on a limb this year with his T by Alexander Wang menswear line for Fall 2011. To say that it was a risk to show sweatpants, t-shirts, oversized coats and scarves as a “fall collection” is the understatement of the year. What Wang new, that no one before him did, was that cut the right way, with the right amount of rock and roll edge, even a pair of sweat pants could kill on the runway. Keeping in his signature color pallet of blacks and greys, below are some of my favorites from his fall look book. Eat em up and get them for yourself HERE. Something tells me there’s going to be a lot more wang in our lives for a long time (get your minds out of the gutter!).
