fashion emperor riccardo tisci says diversity rules…

givenchy marches out an asian army of perfection.

Givenchy Couture Fall 2011

Leave it to Riccardo Tisci to literally excuse models of nearly every ethnic origin, except, of course, those from the continent of Asia. That’s right, for Givenchy’s Fall 2011 Couture show, we saw a lineup of porcelain skin beauties, black tresses cropped in perfect lines and hats that mimic those of old world Asian dynasties. I suppose he figured it was due time. I have to say, I agree.

This collection is so divine, so structured and so unusual. The rumor is each garmet took over 40 hours to construct. With feathers, tulle, fringe and materials so rigid, they had to be hand cut and sewn by needle and well, it shows. There’s no wonder this collection’s precise detail has drawn attention from around the world. The all-Asian models lineup included Ming Xi, Fei Fei Sun, Liu Wen, Shu Pei Qin, Du Juan, Ai Tominaga, and Tao Okamoto. Check out more looks below from the Fall 2011 couture collection. It is truly exquisite!
