green never looked this good

think outside the boring

Oh the world just looks all kinds of blue and black and grey and red these days. Colors sure, but not the kinds that make you go ooh and ah. Sure it’s still a little cold outside still and the skies are a bit grey, but all the more reason to let your clothes break through to that happy place where color rules and people are willing to have a little fun. My favorite color is green and when I want to feel calm cool and happy – it’s my go to garment. Below are just a few of the magnificent options on the market I found tonight in my favorite happy hue. Check them out and get happy.

brother teaches you how to tie a bow tie

a quick tutorial

It’s nothing new to those of you who follow this blog or know me well – I love me some bow ties and wear them multiple times a week. I hear the same comment from people often “I love bow ties – do you tie them yourself?”. I also love the often asked “so is that real or is that a clip on?” I mean really? A clip on?

Here’s the deal – a lot of people forgo wearing a bow tie because they are afraid it’s too difficult to tie. A lot of people don’t wear them because they think they look dorky – but that’s a whole other story. We can forget about those people because frankly there is no hope for them. For our purposes today – my goal is to eliminate the fear and teach a simple and easy way to get that knot tied quickly and easily. Watch the video for my explanation and walk through, and check out the diagram below if you need a little more literal explanation. Now don’t be scared – get out there and rock a bow!

uggtastic…

and it’s chanel.

Yep. Chanel has gone and designed a cushion boot. Some might say it’s similar to the design of their classic cushion caviar leather bag. Kind of. Okay, not really at all. I guess if you’re into extreme comfort and feel that your Ugg isn’t cutting it then well, I guess go for it and lay down some serious cash for a fuggtastic Chanel boot. Or don’t. Seriously, please don’t. Thanks to Coveteur for this image.

how many of the 25 essentials are in your closet?

wardrobe by numbers

We hear it all the time: “I want to step up my personal style but I just don’t know where to begin…yadda yadda yadda.” It’s a common challenge and one that few ever take the initiative to move past. So many people go shopping aimlessly, season after season, reaching for items that they find cool or flattering without ever thinking of the bigger picture. What ends up happening is a hodgepodge wardrobe full of mismatched items, ranging in styles and eras that can’t possibly become a cohesive collection. The intention is there, but the execution is just a big fat fail.

this coach

feels first class

I remember my first Coach bag like it was yesterday. It was huge, black on black with silver hardware and I thought I was the sh*t. I kind of was… ha. Coach is the typical “entry” for the newbie fashionista. Those of us that can’t resist, move into finer and far more expensive territories (you know, the ones that leave you eating top ramen for a month).

It’s been a while since I’ve actually purchased a Coach bag. I tend to avoid them not because I think they lack sophistication or style. No, I avoid because it seems that every woman on the planet owns one. I’ve sometimes felt like the original, tailored and classic look of Coach had been somewhat devalued with this mass consumption. Perhaps that is why Coach’s newest line has me begging for more…

It’s bright, it’s bold and it’s SO very different from anything they’ve done as of late. It seems as though they took a cue from Balenciaga, Prada and Minkoff all at once. Still true to their classic lines, Coach has stepped it up. Me likey.
